Vacation in Myrtle Beach

Picasa Update

Friday
We all got up pretty early and Joyce and Carl packed up and headed out by 8:30am. We stayed getting things packed up and went down to the pool and beach. We finally loaded up the car and took off around 12:30pm, but since it was lunch time we stopped for a bite before we began our journey to Willmington, NC. Our last Myrtle Beach lunch was at River City Cafe again, since Eric is now a burger foodie! Our trip took us down to Willimington, NC where we visited Front Street Brewery. We took home a growler of the Kolsch, and hit the road again. The trip was uneventful and Colin settled in nicely to his sleeping routine here in his own crib. We are now getting ready for our trip to Indianapolis, Colin's first flight! Wish us luck!
Thursday
This morning we woke up at 7:45am instead of 7 and Colin only had one feeding at 3am! I am celebrating a night with longer periods between awake times! Go Colin! He may be growing again. Since Gramma hurt her toe early on in the vacation, she has avoided the beach so she tried for a walk alone this morning. Eric and Carl went fishing again, hopefully they will catch more exciting things. Joyce and I went to McAllister's Deli and then onto the outlet mall. Colin will be so cute in all the outfits Gramma bought him. After we finished up shopping and joined the guys we all headed over to the hotel pool area where they had these giantic hammocks Eric and I enjoyed swinging in! We all headed back to get ready and we traveled down to Murrel's Inlet and had dinner at Drunken Jacks. It was a good dinner, and when we returned Eric and I went for a stroll on the beach under a full moon.
Wednesday
The morning began with us waking up fatigued, it was a long night with Colin. The adults took turns going to workout. This was the first workout where I actually felt like I had my old body back! That excites me, and lets me know that all this struggling to get into shape is paying off. Eric had determined that he and Carl/Granpa would go golfing. They left after lunch and Joyce/Gramma, Colin and I went to the pool.

The day was cloudless, so it did get a little hot, but a nice cool breeze allowed us to stay out in the sun for a couple of hours. The adults had some tasty beverages and got a little sun. Colin hung out in his PeaPod again! (Thanks to Robyn and Linda for that item, a must have for parents who like to leave the house even with their baby!) He did take some sort of a nap. The afternoon was a bit lazy and Eric and I took Colin on the beach for an early evening stroll. Eric wore the baby and we talked while looking for shells. It was a very special time for the three of us. Some nice bonding time for our family.

Eric and I decided to go for a date night and we left Colin with Gramma and Granpa. Eric and I journeyed to the Islamorada Fish Company and had a feast of appetizers. We all know how Eric loves a good deal so we could not pass it up. We even had some sushi, that we both enjoyed. The Dynamite Rolls and the California Rolls were scrumptious! If we weren't full enough already we headed to Carolina Roadhouse for a small dinner. Eric had the BBQ Chicken Dinner and I had the Prime Rib sandwich. My sandwich was delicious and it melted in your mouth like butter. As for dinner we decided to attempt to find a Baskin Robins since yesterday was 31 cent cone day, we had a total of 4 scoops for $1.38, you can't beat that with a stick. When we got back home we assisted Aunt Anna in getting her video chat capabilities up and running and finally spoke with her. She is off to Italy for a vacation, hope the weather is great for her. After the video chat we tucked Colin in and watched the end of Law and Order. I know it sounds so exciting. This whole mom thing and little one thing sure reorganizes your priorities. I think going to be by 11:30pm is much more fun than going out and about, hopefully one day Eric and I can be the party rock stars we have always been. For right now I have to put that side of life aside while Colin needs mommy more.
Tuesday
This morning started out fun, Colin is working hard at trying to roll over. He is really good at getting over to his side and then coming back to his back. It is fun seeing all these changes! He is still as smiley as ever. I love that little boy! Thankfully he has been doing good with his sleep patterns, seems to be over the shock of the car trip from last Friday.
Eric has big plans for Carl and he, they are trying to fish off a pier along the beach. They ended up catching a small amount, ask Eric if you want to know the details. Joyce/Gramma and I went to the pool and got some sun while Colin took a nap in the PeaPod. When they returned we ate lunch at River City Cafe.

Great burgers with great toppings! The afternoon we spent getting Colin down for a nap and going beach side for a little beach/sun time. Joyce/Gramma watched Colin in the room since her toe was still bothering her. For dinner J/Gramma and C/Granpa made pasta and steak with side salad. It was a lovely dinner and nice staying in, until we found out that Lost was not new. We survived though. It was a good evening in!
Monday
As previously stated, the weather was beautiful so Eric, Carl, and I went golfing at the Cane Patch Par 3 course. While enjoying all my practice we saw a Red Tail Hawk at the tee box of the 7th hole. It was fun swinging those clubs, and not keeping score. In case you wanted to know, I did better than I golfed last year! The afternoon was spent at the beach, where there were high winds blasting sand at us. We held strong for a while, Colin slept in his PeaPod. (Thanks again Robyn and Linda) Finally we moved up to the pool deck and again Colin slept while we were swimming and sunning. For dinner we headed to our favorite Calabash Restaurant: Orignial Benjamins Calabash Seafood. Afterwards we went to Barefoot Landing and took a stroll while envying these large boats people docked there. Eric and I figure we will have one almost that big some day after we can cash in on our TSA!

Weekend

I am writing this post on a sunny morning, finally! We had cloudy skies Sat. and Sun. but now we are graced with some sun and heat. Saturday we visited Brookgreen Gardens and bought some plants to take home. Sunday we strolled around Broadway At The Beach and ate lunch at Margaritaville. After we got back from lunch and strolling we attempted to spend some time poolside, that was a chilly breezy experience. I will post more as the trip continues! I am starting a new folder for this vacation in Picasa so you can keep up with the adventures. My mediocre paparazzi attempt. ;) Wish us fun times and sun times!
Love ya all,
Amanda

Catching Up with Weeks 9 and 10 (Colin is 11 weeks today!)

WHAT A CUTIE! A Note from Today: Colin is still eating like a little piggy and he went down for a nap at 11:15am and he is still sleeping and it is now 1:44pm. Hope this won't create a monster later. :)

Looking back at the past two weekends we had visitors and traveled to a wedding. Pete and Julie came for a visit and we toured around Baltimore. Saturday was spent dining on fabulous burgers at Ray's Hell Burger. Julie and I went shopping at the Pentagon City Mall while the guys went bowling and then for some twilight golfing. Julie had special ordered some delectable ice creams from Jeni's and we sampled the Honey Vanilla Bean (those of you who know me really well know I always pick chocolate over any others but this Vanilla was AMAZING!!!!!! 5 out of 5 stars), Bourbon Buttered Pecan (this smooth rich flavor was very yummy), Queen City Cayenne (a very spicy flavor that had a strong cinnamon taste that dissipated on your tongue-intriguing), and finally the Belgium Milk Chocolate (Another fact about my chocolate obsession is that I LOVE Dark over Milk, but this is one exception-the flavor was so rich it reminded me of a dark with the lightness of a milk chocolate.) We all agreed that each flavor truly was splendid and we would get it again. It was fantastic having them visit, and again another case of wishing these guests could stay longer.

As for Colin week 9 consisted of more nights of long periods of sleep ranging from 5-7 hours at a time. He began grabbing at things and kicking his legs. It has seemed since day one that this kid is mentally ready to move, he is just waiting for his body to catch up.

Last weekend we journeyed to Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Northern PA. The resort was fabulous. The wedding ceremony of Steph and Mark Williams was so lovely. Afterwards we partied hard at the reception. The meal was delicious, the drinks were flowing, the cookie buffet was great, and both the white and chocolate cake were yummy! Colin spent the reception snoozing in Teri's arms and then in his stroller. On the drive home we took a side trip to Bube's Brewery and enjoyed sampling the brew and took home a growler of the Speak Easy Pale Ale.
Week 10 we have seen a lot more awake time paired with more smiling and cooing/babbling. He has been sleeping a lot more so he is growing quickly through his sizes. We are now moving onto the 3-6month clothing. I hope we get a plateau soon! His weight was in the 75th% at 2 months so who knows what he is at right now. Colin also came with us to the Kickball Practice last Thursday, he had a blast! Keep looking for more photos!
This Friday we leave for Myrtle Beach with Gramma and Granpa Meyer! It will be a week of beach relaxation! I am looking forward to some Amanda time, not that I don't love being Colin's mom-but I need a little break. Dad(Eric) will get some much needed bonding time with his little boy! More pics to come, please visit the Picasa album (specifically Colin 2 months, Williams' Wedding, and Kickball 2010) and you can see some new photos of the little guy! Love-Amanda P.S. I am slowly getting over the hair drama!

Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day

I went to get my hair cut, because it gets really heavy the longer it gets. When I sat there and told her what I wanted she chopped my hair and left me with two levels, so I could pull it into a pony tail. Right now I feel like saying F the pony tail and make the style look good. I am sooooooo upset and distraught right now. I already have a problem with my body image since I just had a baby, this is the icing on the cake. This do makes me sick to my stomach. I guess I won't be in any pictures with my baby boy until I can get a better do or a wig. It is the shortest I have ever had, the top "layer" is about 6 inches long. What do I do?! Eric tried to tell me it looked better after she "fixed" it, but I think it just got worse. I just needed him to hug me and tell me I am beautiful no matter what my hair looks like now. This event makes me feel so horrible, I just wish it could grow out now. Thanks for letting me rant, and know that I am not fishing for compliments, I really think this cut/style looks like a nasty piece of crap. Any advice for me so that I can get over this, and quickly?

Cherry Blossom with Angie

Before and After shots of the babies in the wearing gear.

This weekend Angie and Steve came to visit! We have had so much fun hanging out and playing with our little guys. These boys are sooooooo cute! Friday we hung out, Saturday we were visited by Angie's gal pals from work, Monday we went to the tidal basin, Tuesday we hung out, and Wed. we had to say good bye. It has been such an awesome time having Angie here to do mom stuff with. Another person I wished lived so much closer.
Colin's first Easter!

The morning started off rough so unfortunately he was unable to attend church. We spent the morning catching up on his sleep in my arms. Then I was able to get in a visit to the gym before we headed over to the Wackerle's for linner or dunch if you prefer. Ham was on the menu and it was great! We had a fun time hanging out with Pat, Bernie, and Conner. Then Vivi eventually joined us from her nap and all the adults took turns jumping on her new trampoline! Colin decided that he was going to stay awake and take in all the action and skip all of his naps. That evening he slept from 11pm to 6:30am. We were amazed and blessed, but always looking for a repeat! We shall see! Pray for us!
Additionally he slept 6 hours Mon. night, and Tues. he woke every hour thus adding to making Wed. a Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day.
