Busy Bees

As you know the Meyer Family cannot sit still. This past weekend our Friday began with some Me Time where Eric watched Colin while I went for a massage package I purchased off of Living Social, my new addiction online along with Groupons. Eric had a roller coaster of a time, Colin was fun then cranky and finally hungry. All it took was some soothing, patience, and a bottle. I was able to enjoy the Spa experience at Natural Body Spa. When I rushed home(the treatments took a little bit longer than expected-facial, toes, and massage) and Eric rushed off to Golf with Pat Wackerle. That evening we had dinner with the Wackerles and watched It's Complicated, there were some really funny parts and we enjoyed the flick. Saturday morning started off with taking a trip over to the Post Office where we waited in line to get a passport for Colin. He did great for his photos and the lady who processed our paper work was very speedy to help us get out of there. When we left that task we loaded up Margie Lou, the Buick, and took a trip with Rufus in tow to the beach. Colin was again a wonderful trooper. It was a breezy day and we all enjoyed a little sun.

That evening we traveled down to Golden Beach where they had some great fireworks. Sunday Colin and I traveled to Washington DC to check out the Folk Festival with Theresa Jackson. It was a hot and humid day. We survived and had lunch in the Old Post Office Pavilion. It seems as though Colin is entering a new phase because we are experiencing a lot more whiny periods and cranky episodes. Hopefully we can breeze through this tough time. It seems as though we are at the beginning of cutting teeth, but no "real" signs that the teeth are coming. We have seen some signs that he is getting ready for solids.

I hope you all are going to have a great 4th of July. We are heading to Indianapolis and Chicago so all the families can get another fix of Colin love!
Take care,
Amanda

Sleep Positions

Colin's many positions in the night, the costume change was due to a leak issue. Hopefully he can either pick a position or stop waking to have someone come and reset him. It is comical at times to see how far he wedges himself into the headboard, or arms/legs stuck in the slats.

Latest Happenings With Us

I will begin with Grandma Chase coming to visit and watch Colin for the last week of school. This visit began with our Air Conditioner on the fritz while Eric is out of town partying with Matt Kennedy and Nolan Walton. The first photo is of both Colin and Grandma Chase sleeping in the back seat together after a tiring trip to Annapolis for some girl time. The weekend seemed to be the hottest and most humid I have remembered in awhile. Mom was a trooper and did not complain, all of us suffered through 90degree days. It was nice surviving my last week knowing that Colin was hanging out with my mom. I was able to go bridesmaid dress shopping and ordered my dress in Horizon, no more details as I am trying to surprise Erin as to what I bought. She is getting married in October so we have some time to get the right fit with my changing body. The rest of the pics with Grandma are before she flew back to Indianapolis. We miss her so, but are looking forward to seeing her around the 4th of July! We are planning a tour of Indianapolis and Chicago. Wish us luck!

Friday: Got dressed in this cute ensemble from Aunt Laura, looking dapper!

Went to school with mommy, this desk is so messy! (And yes, I am almost there for sitting up by myself!)

Picnic lunch with Mommy and Daddy at a nice park.

Chicago White Sox vs. Washington Nationals (p.s. the sox swept the series)

Eric asked if I was interested in seeing the phenom Strasburg pitch against the White Sox, and I said certainly! I am glad we went, he had a great game striking out 11 consecutive batters. Colin had a good time while he was awake, he fell asleep and awoke again in time for the 7th inning stretch and stayed up until we left after the fireworks finished. Colin really liked watching the fireworks and we hope this is the beginning of a good relationship, so he can celebrate the 4th in proper fashion for years to come. We got a good pic of Colin with a beer! We made sure he wasn't too intoxicated! hehe
Pilot for a Day hosted by the Air and Space Museum was our stop for Saturday. We drove over to Chantilly, VA and met the Harmons to tour the museum grounds where they had static displays of helicopters, gliders, planes, and there were model building and flying demonstrations too. After our leisurely stroll through the museum and observation tower we drove to the outskirts of Tysons Corner to have some lunch. When we finished our time together we headed home. That evening the Wackerles watched Colin for us so we could head out and party with our kickball friends. We had a good time, and are looking forward to swapping babysitting times with them for future times of need.

For Father's Day we went on a family walk on the rail trail and it was hot, the pavement was hurting Rufus' paws.
Then after we cleaned up from our sweaty workout we headed to a surprise location for dinner. I had read about Rogue States and decided Eric would enjoy the burgers there. We were not disappointed! It was so delectable and we were sufficiently stuffed when we drove home.

Finally for the most recent things, Colin is now constantly rolling on to his tummy from his back and after awhile realizing that he wants to see everything so I have to rescue him and flip him back over. What a cutie! Currently he is on to giggling for everyone who makes him laugh, studying his hands and feet, and possibly the early stages of teething because he puts everything in his mouth and gums it with all his might.
If you are interested in more photos of Colin, check out the Picasa web album.
Love,
Amanda
