Boating and Beers!

Pictures will be added later, Blogger is giving me an attitude.
Last weekend we took a day trip to Chapel Point with 'Uncle' Derek and CJ had a blast!
He wore his life jacket when the boat was in motion and was in his floaty in the water, he is progressing with his "swimming" he kicks and moves his arms and loves to go under.

Saturday we ventured over to Leesburg and attended the NOVA Brewfest. It was a hot one, but we had a good time. Mommy and Daddy were able to enjoy some craft brews and CJ danced to the music of Divide By Zero.

We are now getting ready to pack everything up so that we can make our way back to the Midwest to hang out with friends and family for the fourth of July.

Warm Fuzzies and reasons to celebrate!

The warm fuzzy I just experienced happened while putting Colin down for bedtime. After CJ was in his PJs Eric was rocking him and tonight he decided to tell a story to Colin instead of reading a familiar bedtime story. (CJ really loves Goodnight Gorilla, second best Goodnight Moon, and the third go to is I Love you so Much!) The story was super sweet about a boy named Colin going fishing with his Daddy. It was such a special moment that I began to tear up. That was an amazing precious moment that I will cherish forever.
My reason to celebrate is I finished my course. The next step before I have my summer free, is to begin my Capstone Work. Should be easy!

Potty time???

Colin has been aware of his number two time for a couple of weeks. I have been working on identifying the sign for diaper so that after he goes he understands that he needs a new diaper. Last night he did a great job telling me he needed a new diaper I decided to get a training potty for him. I am not saying that he is ready for potty training, but I do think he is aware enough of what is happening that he can see that there is a place for him to do his business. I am not trying to gross anyone out, but this is a big milestone! It is weird at how twisted a mother's mind is, you want them to grow up and be independent but then you are sad when they aren't a baby anymore and they don't need you. When CJ came home tonight and saw the potty he immediately wanted to sit in it, carry it around, and point it out to Mommy and Daddy. I love seeing how he explores and exhibits his curious nature. We will be heading out next week on our trip to the Midwest for the 4th of July, driving of course. Don't worry about our drive we are working on getting a replacement vehicle for the Buick, Margie Lou isn't doing so great anymore. Keep our car shopping excursions in your positive mind-frame, may the discount gods/goddesses be with us! Happy Hump Day!

Recap of June

Father's Day Weekend-Zoo Trip with Cyndi and Gabriela Strzyz
The plan was for the Dad's to attend the US Open at Congressional on Saturday while Cyndi, Gabby, CJ, and I went to the Zoo. The guys watched a lot of golf and the Mommies and kids saw some elephants, big cats, and swam. It was so awesome to see CJ and Gabby play together. Colin did get a bit selfish when we were swimming, but with a little distraction of jumping in and dunking him under he let Gabby play with his toys. We had no clue as to when the guys would be getting back so we went a head and got ready for dinner. Seeing as though it was past the kids dinner time we headed to Vapiano to fill our empty bellies. It was a little hairy waiting for our meals, but we survived. Thankfully there was great music and the kids danced while they waited and danced after they finished eating. It was really awesome hanging out with Cyndi and Gabby, I wish we lived closer-they get along so well! Sunday-Father's Day, we all got ready for our big day and had an okay breakfast buffet, loaded the cars and headed into the traffic and got a little misdirected but finally hit the road. Our car did not have parking plans, and frugal Eric refused to pay $60 so we drove for awhile and found some street parking for free. (SCORE) We attempted to find the Strzyz party inside the gates, but that did not happen. We arrived around 12pm and stayed until the end. I watched the last four groups t-off from the 18th, the atmosphere was electric. As a family we enjoyed our day, Colin waited until 7pm to take his nap. So he napped for 40 mins then he woke up on our journey to the car. When we got back to the car we were able to contact Joe, Cyndi, and Gabby so we met up with them at Rio Grande in Arlington. The kiddos had another dance party, and as Joe described-"when I see them running around the tables and chairs it looks like pac man" and it really did. hehe We were sad to say goodbye, but we are excited to see them again over the 4th!
Grandma (JuJu) Chase and Grandpa Chase Visited
My parents wanted to come for a visit and I needed some help so it was mutually beneficial. While they were here they stayed at a hotel with a pool, so we had some pool time together. Mom and Dad "watched" CJ while he slept, Eric and I went to the Tiki Bar at Gilligan's Pier and shared some Swamp Water with Crystal, Robyn, Derek, and other friends. It was a good time, great music and a great time catching up. Then we all headed to Church on Sunday, which was really satisfying and fulfilling. It was a great weekend that was relaxing, fun, and allowed everyone some bonding time. We were sad to see them go, but we are looking forward to seeing them soon.
Deck Garden
After we planted our flowers and got our topsy turvy situated we have been dead-heading the plants and watering them as needed, Colin wanted to help so we got some deck photos of his handy work.
