Weekend of Baby Gordon Shower and Meyer Family Visit

I know that it has been a while since I have posted. Last weekend, Colin and I flew to Chicago to spend time with Gramma and Granpa Meyer, Aunt Anna, and our family friends. Deanna (Kohrs)Gordon is expecting and Baby Gordon is due St. Patrick's Day so I attended the Blessingway and shower. The Blessingway was a special time where the women in her life provided support and guidance to prepare her for the birth. Then the shower happened after the Blessingway, and there were so many people. It was a house full of gifts and gab. It was so nice to participate in the welcoming of a new person. The visit with Gramma, Granpa, and Aunt Anna was great too! We had a lot of fun playing around, laughing, signing, and giggling! I also had the opportunity after the shower to hang out with Aunt Sharon and Uncle Karl. Angie drove down and we spent some QT together as well! It was so great to see her open her birthday present. Her birthday is Jan. 28th! Colin and I packed things up and headed home. When Eric picked us up from the airport it took a moment for Colin to recognize Eric, but then Eric got a really big smile from Colin. Monday I was able to go skiing at Whitetail and CJ went to the daycare while I hit the slopes! It was a fantastic way to warm up to prepare for our trip to Steamboat, CO. This week we have had 2 snow days so far! Looking for a delay so I can sleep in tomorrow! Take care. A

On the front of feeding, I began using Plum and Happy Baby Foods to sneak in some veggies and fruits. CJ loves that he is able to squeeze food into his mouth!

Food Drama

It seems as though this particular month Colin has decided to stop eating the food we put in front of him. When we began our journey into solids, 6 months, and then finger foods, 8..5 months, Colin was a fantastic eater. Yeah, we would occasionally get some resistance about certain flavors or textures, but eventually we could get him eat it. Now Colin is anti all foods in front of him. We have tried spooning it in for him, and he won't take it. We have tried giving him exactly what we are eating and he won't eat it. Eric is extremely concerned and we feel helpless. Colin still gets some nutrients and vitamins through the am and pm nursing. Hopefully this too shall pass! We are getting ready to pack up and go visit Gramma and Granpa Meyer and Aunt Anna for a family-friend Baby Shower-Deanna! Just around the corner is Colin's First Birthday, a year of this cutie what a blessing! I will put some pics up later!
Take care!

Holidays with the Meyer Family

I am going to copy Angie and put some photos that help share our December travels story!
First we stopped off at Grandma and Grandpa Chase's house and opened our presents, Rufus and Carmen played a whole lot! Then we traveled to Gramma and Granpa Meyer's house and hung out there. Opened presents, watched some bears football, and hung out with some friends. We were able to spend some time with The Dockerys and the Kennedys in Wheaton, IL. While hanging out in LaGrange, IL we hung out with the Strzyz family at Strzyz Mannor. It was a fantastic time hanging out with everyone! It was nice to see all the kids growing like weeds! Hope everyone else enjoyed their holidays with their loved ones.
Love,
The Meyers

Celebrate!

There are two reasons I have chosen this title, first off I was able to call on my friends at Diapers.com helped me for a second time. Back in November I purchased 2 XL cases of size 3 diapers for CJ, and shockingly enough he has not gone through both cases in the time it has taken for him to grow out of the size 3. As all mom's know every brand of disposable diapers sizes don't really match up with the size of your baby. It was super easy! I called their line and asked if there was any way they could help me and they said they would send out a box of size 4, and a return label for the size 3 case. They are my pals, the first time they saved me is when I had issues with the diaper pail liners and I got the wrong size for that. When I speak with those customer service reps, they really helped me out and saved me money! Everyone should purchase from Diapers.com, and they are a UPromise retailer. The second reason I titled this post 'Celebrate!' is to remind everyone to celebrate the daily gifts and blessings in your lives. I was able to leave 2 hours early since PG County was worried about the still non-existent snow. I drove to the daycare to pick up my little guy and he was sooooo happy to see me since Daddy always picks him up. He was a bit fussy on the way home, but finally took a nap. After putting CJ back to sleep in his bed for his nap I sat down to work on the Diapers.com issue and I turned on Oprah. Her show is focused on this family with 3 children lost all three children in a horrible car accident. It is heart wrenching to hear their story of loss and healing that has taken them to a more happy place (they had triplets 1 year from the day of the accident). I feel the purpose of this show was to help me remember just how fortunate we are for various reasons and that any blessings/gifts in our lives could be there for a brief moment. So we should treasure all wonderful things for the moments we are able to experience them. Sorry to dish this out, a perspective reminder is needed every once in awhile.

Love your loved ones!

Photo Shoot from Dec.

Here are some of the photos from the Picture People Photo Shoot of December, wanted to capture his skeleton halloween outfit too!

NYE 2011

What a night! CJ had a decent nap from 3-4:30pm ate dinner in the car on the way over to Anthony's house where we hung out with J+T Kennedy, M+S Williams, Brandon, Herb and Kasey, Wags and some others. Colin decided that since it was NYE he would attempt to stay awake for the ball drop. I had round one with bedtime at 8:30pm, he won that one and we tried round two about 10pm, and he won again. Finally Mommy prevailed at 10:45pm with a lot of sweat and tears! :) Down for the count, at least that is what we thought. 12am struck we all celebrated with a toast and about 40mins later Colin gets up again because he was missing all the fun. We loaded up the car and headed home. It was a good time seeing everyone and we wish it happened more often. The Meyers wish everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year!
Love to all!
